Charles Schwab have just asked to borrow a stock that I own, and they're prepared to pay me 6% for the privilege. I thought brokerage houses lent stocks owned by clients to other clients who wanted to short. And they did that unless specifically ordered not to by the owners.

Didn't you campaign against allowing shares to be lent for shorts Maurice? I don't remember taking any action along the lines you suggested at the time. The stock isn't Qcom. It's one that has been falling recently; maybe others have started lending it to shorts! Another odd thing - the stock is valued at less than $5. I thought such stocks were not shortable - maybe they're just not marginable?
