There was no easy vote. Kerry had been pushing to disarm Saddam for a long time. But that didn't mean invade without a broad coalition, more inspections and a post-war plan.

The invasion itself not not a bad idea in so much as it took out a menace. What was wrong was the unilaterialism, the many lies Bush told, the impatience and piss-poor planning. Also the use of the war to swipe an election and to make false accusations against political opponents. But mainly it was the lies. So many lies.
