John, thanks for the reply ... but it still makes no sense to me.

Amazon was recognizing forfeitures as they occur (presumably per 123), which means much of it would be in the future. Now they're applying an estimate of the forfeiture from the outset (presumably mandated by 123R) ... and that results in an accounting gain?

If they were offsetting expenses previously charged, it would make sense, but they hadn't even taken the expenses yet.
