That ragtag insurgency seems to be well funded. I've always said from the beginning they don't have enough troops to do the job right or quickly. I think most of the insurgents are ex-Republican Guard and military under Saddam who simply tossed their uniforms for civilian gear. Eventually insurgents who live by the sword die by the sword. Its not a quick process by any means especially when trying to differentiate between real civilians and insurgents. Just a short 60 years ago during WWII, the problem would have been dealt with completely differently and entire cities would have been simply strategically bombed or even fire bombed like Tokyo, Dresden, Berlin and 75% of all Japanese cities.
