This whole sell off is completely ludicrous. Resources sell off and the Dow and Nasdaq are up? Go figure... Who is controlling things here? "Durable-goods orders plunged 2.8 per cent in March, the biggest setback in 2 1/2 years and the third straight decline. Economists had expected a 0.3 per cent rise." Yet everything is hunky-dory! "The materials sector dropped three per cent as Teck Cominco Ltd. closed down $1.25 to $40.80. The mining and smelting company announced Wednesday it is doubling its dividend to 40 cents per share." Is this the Twilight Zone or what? "U.S. copper producer Phelps Dodge Corp. was down 4.15 per cent, or $3.70, at $85.54 US, even after it soundly beat Wall Street expectations by doubling its first-quarter earnings, year-over-year, thanks to strong copper prices. Profits of $3.83 per share beat estimates by analysts, who expected earnings of $3.35 US per share." These companies are awash in cash. Gold price rises several dollars before today and very few gold shares rose in value, yet it is a big deal when we go back to where we started in the gold price and the shares fall in price significantly. Absolutely sickening! Wall Street and their snake analysts that pull the strings of richly valued companies that will have their lunch eaten by the far east in the not too distant future are having their way once again. I'll be glad when they get hammered and gold and resources finally rule the day.
