JDN, I keep hearing people say that the privatization of SS will force them to invest in the stock market, which scares many of them. As I understood, the premise of this act would be to let people keep 2% of what would have been paid into the FICA, and invest it however they chose to do so. Given the freedom to control how these funds are invested sounds like a very good idea to me.

If one looks at the present system closely, they would see that about 70% of the funds collected from workers, goes to waste in the bureaucratic processing of the funds. Looking at what I contributed to the SS, and what I will get back, I could have amassed a lot more money for my own retirement than the government will ever allot to me.
