Yiwu - but the total population figures in the data you gave us didn't match the birth and death rates? What are they based on? There would only be a census every 5 or 10 years, no? Or did they try to count the population every year? Maybe based on residence registration numbers? In that case I can definitely understand why there is a difference between the two figures and your explanation makes sense. They were missing from their home province and didn't register in the other province because they were illegal migrants there! David
