Italian has never fullheartedly supported sending the Italian troops to Iraq. This was a decesion made by Berlusconi government, and behind this decision lies a historical fact.

In 1943, after fall of Benito Mussolini, Badoodlio goverment negotiated a separate peace with the allied forces, where Italy switched sides and agreed to fight against the Germany on the side of the Allies. This happened while half of Italy was still firmly in the hand of Germans and Italian troops fighting for the Salò Republic! At this point the Allies could not have conisdered Italians allies, they called Badaoglio Government "co-bligerent!!" This did not went well with the Italians. For the Germans fighting the Allies, Italians could not be trusted, and therfore the Facist troops fighting along with the germans were assigned duties such as fighting the partisans! Allies did not trust the Italians because half of Italy army were still fighting against the allies. This created a complex of inferiority for the Italians! Berlusconi wants to prove that Italians are trustworth allies, so he is being holier than the Pope!

Now Slydick, do you understand? If you don't, then call me at 0039.335-403155 and I will explain this to you.
