Chinchilla_Girl08-06-2004, 01:38 PM If anyone gets the chance to watch the PETA episode from Penn and Teller's Bullsh*t on Showtime...please do. If you had any doubts that PETA is a bunch of extremist hypocrites...this will help clear you up! They have proof PETA dontates to terrorist groups and as they say in the preview on their site, it's enough to make any vegatarion WANT to eat meat! (not trying to change anyone's culinary views here, but after watching it, I did want to go get a big juicy steak just to spite PETA) You'll find some info here sho.com

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Roz08-06-2004, 03:56 PM Wish I could see it as well.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
lixx08-09-2004, 04:45 PM Ack, can;t see it!! We at Showtime Online express our apologies; however, these pages are intended for access only from within the United States.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PicOlio08-09-2004, 05:02 PM We downloaded it and watched it (along with three of their other BS episodes).
My main wish is that I wouldn't have watched it with the kids. I knew there would be language but it was a bit more than I was really planning on.....
Honestly, I enjoyed the other three episodes more than the PETA episode...go figure. The PETA episode had a ton of good points but it was put together so "one sidedly" that it felt "over the top" and "unbelievable" which of course describes PETA but would make it difficult to give a show about PETA a perfect 10 :P
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chinchilla_Girl08-09-2004, 05:02 PM Was it shown this Thursday or will it be next Thursday?I believe it was from 2nd Season...I saw it On Demand Showtime Series so I have no idea when they'll show that episode again. I'll keep an eye out for it though

prosewolf08-18-2004, 02:00 PM hello everyone. listen.. i don't mean to barge in or interrupt. i really have no right to be on this site (although i'm a cat lover), but i felt that i should share some knowledge.
i was watching Penn & Teller last night, and i was right into the PETA episode, when the final few minutes were cut off (at the part about why the PETA bought the freezers). i went looking for information about it, and found this site, and your questions about the show.
Penn & Teller's show can be seen daily, consistently, on Winamp 5.0. download Winamp 5.0, and under the Media Library selection, there's a cool thing called "Internet TV". the P&T:B show can be seen by entering "SWCTV" into the search field on the Internet TV portion, and clicking on "channels" SWCTV251 or SWCTV252. the episodes, at half an hour in length, are shown 24 hours a day, 7 days a week... the odds of the PETA episode appearing are quite frequent. also, i have hi-speed, so maybe dial-up users can't use the program. i can't vouch that all computers will be able to see the show.
also, to andreaS15, if you type into google:: sho ptbs peta ::and click on Cached, you can view any site that's been recorded into their database. such as this: 64.233.161.104
that's it. that's all. i have no other reason to be here than to give you all that knowledge. i don't want to rock any boats or incur any flames. i don't even own any pets. ^_^ enjoy, and have good lives.

Mandie, you have every right to have an opinion about Peta, but I have to say that I find your statement to be offensive. Being a vegetarian has nothing to do with Peta. It bothers me that you would say that you want to eat a steak to spite them. Like I said, you have every right to have an opinion but I still find what you said to be offensive.
I'm vegetarian because I don't want to eat animals and participate in cruel factory farming. The fact that one A.R. group might be dishonest doesn't make a vegetarian want to eat animals.

Roz08-18-2004, 06:07 PM I, too, am a vegetarian and her comment did not offend me in the least. I thought it was amusing.

The fact that one A.R. group might be dishonest doesn't make a vegetarian want to eat animals.Steph, I'm sorry I offended you...I was a vegetarian for 2 years several years ago for the reasons of not wanting to eat animals and participating in the profits of the inhumane slaughter houses. But rib night at a friend's house cracked me and I couldn't resist...I've been a meat eater ever since. The comment I made was not to offend or actually eat a steak just to spite PETA, but the facts that were presented about the organization killing animals themselves because they didn't have anywhere to put all the ones they "saved" just really ticked me off...as well as the facts that were presented that clearly linked PETA to terrorist organizations. The facts showed how very hypocritical many of the people are especially the President and VP, just made me feel like doing the opposite of what they wanted and since I'm not about to physically hurt an animal or anything like that, a steak just made sense...it wasn't ment to offend anyone, just an expression of outrage against PETA's hypocrisy. I do apologize to anyone that was offended.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
veggiegirl08-18-2004, 07:22 PM Its ok Mandie. It came off differently to me. I know what you meant now though. Thanks for explaining. :)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chinchilla_Girl08-18-2004, 07:52 PM No prob...I can see how (without knowing my line of thinking when I wrote it) it could offend any vegetarian or animal lover...That's why I explained. :)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Christi08-18-2004, 08:42 PM Mandie, you CRACK me up!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
formula8608-22-2004, 04:00 AM how about we just eat my cat back home? she is sooo mean! haha, j/j. i love her so much!
i would really want to see that show. i went to the website and saw a little paragraph about the show and it said that PETA thinks all pets should be released into the wild. WHAT WILD? there is hardly any wild anymore! and most of these animals are so domesticated that there is NO way they'd survive. c'mon! let me think about how long my YORKIE would last in the "wild". ugh! and although i don't believe in most animal testing, i do believe in it when it can provide crucial medical information that may save or severely advance someone's life.
if anyone knows when this show may be on, let me know cause i will go to a friend's house to see it.

Denise08-23-2004, 01:53 PM Everytime I hear the name PETA I cringe. Radical terrorists is what I call them. Their methods for supporting their cause baffles me. They do more harm than good. Their philosophy is to perform outlandish acts to prove a point.
Insurance companies will not cover chinchilla breeders because they view the breeders as a liability for fear of PETA causing harm to the animals. Nice huh?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Roz08-23-2004, 02:53 PM Are you serious, Denise? I've never heard of that before. Wow.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
veggiegirl08-23-2004, 02:59 PM I agree that they are too radical. I think they do crazy things to get attention, but it ends up being negative attention and gives A.R. people a bad name. I give donations to A.R. groups every month, but I don't give to Peta. Peta does some good things though. Remember the KFC employees that were fired for abusing the chickens? Peta is the one that shot the undercover video and exposed them.
I didn't see the Penn and Teller episode, but I think the "terrorists" that they supposedly give money to are the activists that break into and destroy laboratories and break animals out of the labs and factory farms.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ilovesmepets08-24-2004, 03:07 PM PETA makes me laugh!!!! My cats would get eaten by coyotes or something if they were released. Actually, they'd probably find their way home and be sitting at the door the next morning, begging to be let in so they could watch kitty tv and eat something that doesn't fight back.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NavyWife9708-24-2004, 03:15 PM b>Ya know what really turned me off about PETA, I think it was about 2-3 years ago, when PETA sent an activist to one of the 3rd world countries to protest the use of a donkey that was used during a suicide bombing that killed I believe 170+ people, they could have cared less about the 100+ innocent victims that died, their only concern was the donkey. Okay yes it was sad that an innocent animal had to die, but OMG priorities people..... Okay I know that sounded harsh and yes I feel for the poor Donkey, but geesh it just goes to show ya how wacked PETA's priorities can really be.

What did they think they would acheive?? The terrorist were after killing people! Did they really think they would give a rat's behind about a donkey?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NavyWife9708-25-2004, 09:27 AM My point exactly Mandie!!!! I mean really where are their priorities?? I had always thought in the past that PETA had some good issues and did do right in SOME of the things they did, but for the most part were just a radical bunch of activists. Then came the donkey suicide bombing, and boy that surely opened my eyes to truly see where their priorities are.....I mean what if it had been one of their family member's that had gotten killed would they have cared about the deaths of 100+ people then, or would they have still focused on the donkey that was used???
