The source of the word country may not be used to mean nation state but the word country itself is very frequently used to mean nation state, or even just state (in the sense of an independent state, not a province or region that is part of a larger political entity like states in the US).

Anyway I think we've played out this semantic discussion about the meaning of country. It was relevant to the larger issues in the beginning but its become the discussion rather than something that adds to the discussion.
