Canton, Mass. - Sept. 5, 1997 - Grossman's Inc. suffered a net loss of
$1.9 million on sales of $20.8 million in July, show papers filed with
the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. The performance lagged behind Grossman's
results in June, when the retailer lost $1.6 million on sales of nearly
$24 million.

At the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington, Del., a final hearing was
scheduled Sept. 22 to address Grossman's motion to sell certain claims
and equity interests to protect its net operating loss carry-overs
