Tenchusatsu, RE: "there are a lot of other ways to screw over employees "

Such as ?

Well, maybe this is what happens when some people thought they could jerk companies around like they did during the boom.

I remember the last engineer we interviewed in the USA just before we decided to offshore. (This was also before we improved our screening procedures.) The candidate was from an ivy league school (don't want to say where), he had already interviewed with other people and was called back for more interviews but he arrived late. I made a comment about how school has a lot of late night studying. He said, "oh, I wasn't studying late." He sort of stammered he was at a strip bar the night before & so had a hard time getting up on time. You've got to give him an A+ for honesty.

So people complain employers have the upper hand right now? Well, please allow us for a bit. Sometimes it's needed to clean an industry up. Of course, now that the market is getting better, employers will bring out the morale treats again. You know, those things where a VP drones on for an hour, leaving only 15 minutes for the team to have fun.

On a different note, I understand Otelini has cleaned Intel up a bit and has gotten rid of some expensive driftwood.

Regards,
Amy J
PS Saw your post on AMD - I think they should fine the lady $1M for her potentially wrongful claim, which is what Wendy's lost in revenue due to her "finger in chili" claim. It's about time people become accountable for their actions. I hope Wendy's lawyer rattles off all the people that got hurt by this - the workers that got layed off, the Wendy's investors that got hurt, etc.
