Re: Is Bob O'Brien really James Dale Davidson?
The argument (as documented below), goes like this:
James Dale Davidson founded NAANSS, the "National Association Against Naked Short Selling". Bob O'Brien founded NCANS, the "National Coalition Against Naked Short Selling". Both created high profile web sites devoted to the cause and both sought national media attention.
Bob O'Brien's pet stock is Novastar International (NFI). Two major posters on the NFI Yahoo board are Howard Hill (aka hhill51) and Geoff Johnston (aka peacefulposter). Back in 1999, Davidson, Hill, and Johnston posted together on Longwaves.net, a very specialized and infrequently trafficked message board hosted by the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Coincidence?
According to Howard Hill, yes. He denies ever meeting Davidson and that those posts way back when comprised his only association with Davidson. Howard furthermore says it's been "years" since he's had contact with Johnston. "Bob" has denied repeatedly being Davidson.
I just can't picture Davidson spending a couple of years hosting a fan site for Novastar. Having interacted with him, either Bob doesn't possess anything but cursory knowledge of the penny stock market or he purposely avoids discussing it. Although I lean toward the former, both are red flags. Even before he started the controversial NCANS site, Bob was very careful to do everything possible to protect his identity for his NFI fan site. I've heard of bashers being over-protective, but longs are something new to me. Someone has clearly gotten to Bob and scared him about Rocker Partners and other so-called "evil" hedge funds. Is this Bob's own doing or has someone seen fit (for reasons unknown) to warn him? Why?

Geoff/Saunders/dirty FTD timeline

We know that the FTD file was created at 2:15pm on 4/13 and uploaded to a Yahoo group by peacefulposter who then posted a message to dirtydirtydeeds saying the file had been uploaded. The file says it was created by Geoff Johnston. peacefulposter came unglued about having the name Geoff Johnston posted publicly and threatened me.
I think it's clear that peacefulposter's real name is Geoff Johnston and he was the original created of the FTD document.
It appears from dirtydirtydeed's posts that he downloaded the FTD document and "added verbiage". The file shows that the person who edited the file did so under a Windows account with the name "P Saunders". The file indicates that there were a total of 4 revisions to the file and total editing time was 19 minutes.
At 8:16pm EST dirtydirtydeeds posted that he had uploaded the modified file to the NCANS website.
I downloaded the file this morning and it showed that there had been 4 revisions made and the last one was at 9:01pm 4/13 (the time would be local to the computer it was edited on).
It's quite clear that the P Saunders that popped up here and claimed to be P Saunders didn't do the editing, that is something that dirtydirtydeeds did himself.
Despite the claims of a poster that she was P Saunders and P Saunders is a 24 year old webpage maintainer working for NCANS, I just don't think a webpage maintainer who never posts here just happened to stop by and read my message.
I think it's far more likely that dirtydirtydeeds actually is P Saunders or at the very least was using the computer of someone named P Saunders last night to edit the FTD document.

James Dale Davidson used to rage about naked short selling as he promoted penny stocks, what eventually happened to the penny stocks he promoted is a matter of record.
Now we have dirtydirtydeeds following in the footsteps of James Dale Davidson.
And Howard Hill used to hang around a message board with James Dale Davidson AND Geoff Johnston. Now he hangs around a message board with dirtydirtydeeds and Geoff Johnston is here as well.
Just find it interesting

indicator, you might want to check with the inventor, Lazlo Barinyi. It is
probably much cheaper to get it directly from him than through Bloomberg.

No. The only one that advances that lunacy is a presumably paid
message board basher who posts 50 or so times per day, and appears to have been stalking me on various blogs - his agenda appears to be character assassination. he is either a pro, or unbalanced. My gut says pro.
So not JDD. I'd never even heard of him until that guy brought it up.It is funny how insidious the rumor mill is, though.
I'm just a private citizen, nobody famous or notorious, and will no doubt disappoint one and all at my ordinary-ness once I step forward and take off the mask. FWIW, I've been asked if I'm Penn Gillette (of Penn and Teller), Ben Stein, and a host of other folks.
I'm not any of them, either, although nobody has ever seen Penn and I in the same place...
Help me understand something - why is a senior editor of Barrons interested in a trivial conflageration on an obscure message board for a small midwestern MREIT? What's the news value? Why does anyone care, much less you?
