>>> Dabum's thread is full of posters who could not giving a damn about the fundamentals of a stock or sector. <<<

That isn't totally true Que. I'm the one that doesn't give a damn about the fundamentals. There are some on my thread that add their fundamental analysis. All I ask when providing fundamental analysis is provide an idea of how the fundamentals can help us make money now. If not now, when? I'd like to have a time frame.

You are correct about sector focus. We focus on the market, not one sector of the market.

What I do provide is full disclosure. Anyone who reads my posts knows if I made money on the trade or not. They know the buy and exit points and can learn something from my successes and failures.

For a long time I thought I was the only one who had losing trades based on what I read here and elsewhere. Everybody talked about their many successes but I had no way of knowing if a 40% move in PTEN actually made someone money or got them back to even on previous losses. Did a 60% gain this year offset the losses from previous years or did they really make headway?

Some talked about 100% returns and then you find out they owned 20 shares. There isn't anything constructive in that type of message to help me or anyone else become a better investor.

There's nothing wrong with those of you who rely on the fundamentals. How and when do you apply those to the timing of a trade?

I think you, and especially Frank, have provided ideas on how and when to apply your fundamental analysis to the timing of your trades. But, there are a lot of useless messages here with posting of news article after news article without any follow up analysis on how to apply it to making money today. There is a lot of I'm up x percent on so and so ... and I think that's great, but sharing how and why might even make it better. I'm not complaining about it though and don't mind if it continues. I merely skip over it and move on.

What I try to do is show what I see and how to apply it within a certain time frame. Hopefully others can apply the same concepts and principles I use, if it fits their style, to stocks and sectors of their choice, and repeat it again and again and again.
