Maybe this will be more clear: .If the Government allows nearly half the population (number of government workers) to oversee/choose SOME vehicles of investment of their own retirement funds through the government, then why wouldn't that be enough background/experience to have the entire population invest only 4% of their SS tax in a fund that might grow more than the 1% or so that it currently does?

The proposal that has been talked is entirely VOLUNTARY. Not Mandatory. So.....

Why are so many Democrats so violently opposed to privatization when their own leaders, (Clinton in particular) have said that SS is a mess and needs to be fixed...and Clinton recommended privatization as well?

Why are so many in MSM so opposed to any 'stabilization' of SS?

Why is AARP opposed, when in fact, their organization was formed to sell insurance to seniors?

Could it be that the Dems, some left of center Repubs, AAPR, MSM, etc WANT the majority of the citizens in the US to only get 1-1 1/2% of interest on their SS funds....

Meaning they want to control these people....or do these groups simply want Social Security to fail completely?

After all, the problems have been talked about publicly since at least the 1980's..... The additional couple of percentage points that the Feds added in 1983 were supposed to permanently "fix" the problem.
