I just read six books about evangelicals. I have yet to find a "left-wing" evangelical. Though there are cults and pseudo religions like Scientology which are known for taking their flocks to the cleaners, financially speaking. I once went a rock n' roll church, sort of leftist I guess. They didn't hit me up for money. They were harmless.
The other thing I've found was not a scintilla of halfway rational evidence that there is going to be any rapture or 2nd coming. In fact, people have predicting that every year since the 1st century and it's never happened, will never happen and makes no sense.
As a result, hundreds of apocalypse pseudo-prophets have midled millions, have had to change their stories or died in disgrace. The millions who believe in Armageddon now (mostly on the far right are contributing to the violent, ugly, evil, uneasy, divisive and unfriendly mood in our country today. I guess they feel if the world's going to end, who cares, anything goes, and the more war the better, especially in the middle east.
Another thing I found, the Anti-christ is supposedly already amongst us, very-very powerful on the verge of taking over and is pretending to be a devout christian. I can think of only one candidate. gg |
