Another misnomer is the Palestinians calling the land theirs before it was lost to the Israelis. I believe the land belonged to Egypt and Jordan(Trans Jordan)before the war. And while the Egyptian and Jordanian armies were fleeing the advancing Israelis they spread mass panic among the Palestinians by telling them the Israelis would massacre them. Hence the reason so many are now refugees in camps. I don't believe the Israelis ever massacred anyone.
