There seems that be a deeply ingrained belief -- reflecting the action of Greenspan inspired bubble markets over many years -- that bears cannot ever be correct except over a fairly short period of time.

Bullish sentiment and market action are assumed to be the norm -- bearish sentiment and market action are just brief deviations from this norm. The rapid rebound from the 2000-2002 bear has further reinforced this belief.

I suspect this bullish bias is going to be severely tested this year and next.
