From the articles you posted, it looks like enough deer hunters are not hunting due to the fear of disease that it will make a definite impact on rural economies. I liked the anecdote about the hunter whose wife was a veterinarian, and asked him not to bring any deer meat home at all, because why take any risk? That is the camp I fall into, philosophically speaking.

Do you hunt? Does the fear of contracting wasting disease, even if very slight, concern you?
