There aren't many jobs where you can do and say whatever you like and get well-paid for it.

Talking heads can and do.

If they are wrong, nothing at all ever happens. They can be wrong repeatedly, in fact they can be wrong all the time. I often wonder how they get these jobs in the first place.... obviously, there are no qualifications in terms of ability to understand and predict market behavior. I suppose they just know somebody, or they are in the right place at the right time and brownose the right people.

Then, it's simply a matter of learning some smart-sounding market-speak and throwing those words and phrases around at random. No need to even follow or analyze the market at all, even if they could.

Suze Orman's column on Yahoo is particularly annoying... who in the hell died and appointed HER the Almighty and Omniscient Director of YOUR Economic Life, anyhow? I can't decide who has more gall, Suze, or the idiots who pay her to write that arrogant and self-righteous drivel.
