To me things look bleaker now than even when we were living through the FLQ crisis in Montreal.. and we may have no country... If the West goes and Quebec goes the only thing I could say for sure is I'm sure I would leave Ontario..."

Why do things look so bleek? Quebec has been on the way out the door for 40 years, they are still here. If Quebec were to leave, Obviously so would all the Federal jobs they presently enjoy in Hull and other places. The new Quebec Government would have to renegotiate most of the contracts they presently hold. Bombardier would have no financing. We could build a new capital, I favour Moosejaw, because you cannot have the Capital of Canada on the Border of a foreign country, and building the border crossings on the Canadian sides would be a whole new industry. We could keep bilingualism where it is working and drop it where it isn't, and Quebec's tourism industry from the rest of Canada would dry up for 20 years or so, but it would be spread to the rest of the nation. Quebeckers could try it and when/if they didn't like it we could renegotiate a deal for their re entry into Canada..... Why not let them go and try it? If they love it, we have a new and friendly neighbour, if they don't, and they make a decision to formally return to Canada welcome them back.... There is not as much downside to ending this one way or another, as there is to spending 40 or 50 years hoping they won't leave....
