I disagree. No news organization wants to credit another news organization. If they can get the information on their own, they report it without the credit. If they include the credit, that means they can't authenticate it but choose to report it anyway because they don't want to miss out.

We do not yet have any verification of this story. One of the basic rules of journalism used to be that you needed more than one source. We don't even have one reliable source.

Now, I don't have any problem with folks assuming the satellite story is true. I, too, imagine it's probably true. And even if it's not true, I still figure that the US troops handled the incident appropriately. But my assuming that the story is true does not give me sufficient basis for making such a charge. I think that civility requires that you line up your ducks before you charge anyone with anything. Right now there is only suspicion, not evidence. If evidence turns up, then have at it.

BTW, I appreciate your actually rebutting my point. Heck, I appreciate someone simply acknowledging one of my points. What a nice change of pace.
