If you mean eliminating Unocal as a refining and marketing competitor, that won't happen with the Chevron deal. Unocal sold off its refining and marketing (and the name rights) about 7-8 years ago (can't remember the buyer) and essentially transformed itself into a large, worldwide E&P and I believe that is all Chevron is buying.
