A leisure suit? I had almost forgotten about those. They really weren't hippie wear, but more like what older people who were trying to be simpatico wore. I was looking at old family photos recently, and discovered one of my father (who was 50 years old then) in the early 1970's, wearing very long hair for a director of curriculum development, and a Nehru jacket, of all things. I had forgotten how the whole hippie movement affected the hairstyles and clothing adults wore. At least in California. I'm guessing this trend probably wasn't so noticeable in more conservative areas of the country.
