Outsourcing is very scary for all employees now- even teachers. There was an article a while ago about importing teachers from other countries. Interestingly the benefits (at least to a company we know intimately) do not appear to be as great as people thought they would be, when you actually send the business overseas. The grass is always greener, even when it comes to outsourcing. Maybe the trend to send things offshore will reverse, if there are enough problems with it. I have long thought that very high oil prices could make shipping so prohibitively expensive that it makes sense to manufacturer closer to the consumer. If oil goes to 100 dollars a barrel or higher, it could make sense to pay Americans to manufacture things here, especially if wages elsewhere go up.
