Thought I'd look up the trailer, and a review or two...Sometimes the critic just wants to sell papers, so is controversial........Maybe it is just an old fashioned story, and people are expecting old fashioned adherence to the
"real history"...

That is an interesting thought, when you think about it for a minute. If that should be the case, Hollywood doesn't pay any attention to History anyhow... So what do they care about this movie being accurate to history?

Interesting review

888888888888 After seeing those things, I wondered what reviewers would say of Lawrence today....

Lawrence of Arabia....I loved this sentence in Ebert's review

As for 'Lawrence,' after its glorious re-release in 70mm in 1989, it has returned again to video, where it crouches inside its box like a tall man in a low room. You can view it on video and get an idea of its story and a hint of its majesty, but to get the feeling of Lean's masterpiece you need to somehow, somewhere, see it in 70mm on a big screen. This experience is on the short list of things that must be done during the lifetime of every lover of film.
