Sheesh, I wake up early in the morning to surf - right before I have to give a presentation to a group of technologists and then a group of investors and read this........

These guys just don't quit with the "Blindres ON" projections.

<sigh>

You simply do not get it. I don't think you are reading and interpreting what is happening.

PC growth was projected to be higher - 60% higher than the current rate. Yes, the growth rate for the Q1 is positive but it was originally expected to be 17%. In fact, we had this discussion weeks ago.

The growth rate is slowing. That bothers the market. Everyone in the industry knows this. Why is it so difficult to grasp?

A few posts ago Sarmad stuck his neck out to say that PC growth in Q2 would be greater than the growth in Q1. What's interesting about this is that he did not say what the percentage growth rate would be. If I interpret it correctly he said, "PC shipments will be higher."

How's that for a forecast?

And you say the analysts have blinders on? Baloney!

I would be willing to bet that everyone that bashes the sell-side analysts, or for that matter the buy-side, on this thread have less information at their fingertips than they do. And, even if you have the data, I suspect they are much better at interpreting it.

The analysts do not have an agenda. Yes, there are bad analysts and there are good but the intent of an opinion, right or wrong, is to help the client. In fact, I would say that most analysts would much rather see a rip-roaring bull market in the PC sector and the stocks because it would help secure their job.

Have you ever talked to one of the analysts?

Those that are bearish, at least for the intermediate trend, have been right. There are no two ways about it. One cannot say that a bearish analyst on this sector would have cost them money - again, in the intermediate term.

Carl -- who happens to be totally focused on the search for technologies that could disrupt the semiconductor manufacturing chain..... and, believe it or not, there are quite a few.....

P.S. To Etchmeister: Will you look back a bit and figure out where I stand (stood) on flash memory instead of just saying that I was bearish? It's all right here.
