Equality of wages on a world basis implies equality of costs. And that means you no longer get dirt cheap imports, which inevitably drives US costs up. Which lowers your standard of living on a relative basis at least and maybe for real since they can now get some of what you previously did. And their exports become more competitive with yours, puttung your balance of payments- -all of it- -in jeopardy.

That is what many of the libs want. They think we in the US consume too much and that we need to cut back.

I wonder how that attitude fares when someone's favorite ox gets gored?
