Reality Check Confirm Bolton By Gary Bauer on Uncategorized It’s time for a reality check. John Bolton has been nominated to head an organization that has the likes of China, Zimbabwe and Sudan on its Human Rights Commission; that is embroiled in an oil for food crisis; whose “peacekeepers” rape women and children in the Congo; and, that sat idly by as genocide took place in Rwanda. The UN is an organization in need of reform; in need of a reformer. The major complaint against Bolton is that he is abrasive and tough. Sounds like exactly the guy we need heading up this scandal-plagued organization! Another allegation against Bolton was that he got angry at the State Department’s biological weapons expert, Christian Westermann, because he mislead Bolton and attempted to undermine his authority. But even Westermann’s boss admitted in an email to Bolton that Westermann’s actions were “entirely inappropriate.” The Democrats dislike Bolton because he is a blunt, truth-telling, America-first conservative who knows the U.N. needs reforming and has little tolerance for those who want U.S. foreign policy to be held hostage by whatever the French or Germans may want. If the Democrats have so much esteem for the UN, why do they complain about a well-qualified, no-nonsense nominee who will reform this wasteful organization?
