You are correct, it's is not a TAX issue per se, rather it is the issue of expensing which impacts earnings and thus indirectly impacts taxes. I seem to recall that the tax impact is disproportionate because of the oddities of option accounting, but don't have anything in front of me to back that up. Sorry for the late reply.
