Well, we certainly didn't help the Viet Namese by dropping Napalm on them and otherwise destroying their country. Viet Nam would have been better off if we had left them to decide their own fate. Also, all that money spent on that pointless war was money not spent here in the good ole US of A.

The 2nd Ave subway was also on the drawing boards in the 1960s. Amazing that a needed subway project still is on the drawing boards in our supposedly 1st world country, 40 years later. Why? Because we're so damn militaristic and focused outward on other countries, that we don't take care of our own needs.

Instead of killing Vie Namese, we could have been building a better country for ourselves. The lesson of Viet Nam was not learned. Imperialist attempts to control former colonies don't work and the losers are the common people in both countries. The Viet Namese lost millions of people, we lost 58,000 men/women, and we pissed billions away on a dubious war that could have been spent making our country a better place. Think for yourself, don't let rightwing pundits like Joe Scarborough think for you.
