No, they don't get bigger if you don't cut them, when they're bug-killed already, as is the case in the interior of BC ... on the coast yes, in some cases but not all, much of the harvest takes place in decadent stands, it is simply good forestry to replace that which is not growing with that which is ... the coast was half shut down for years already, only got back to allocated cut in 1Q04 really, and then 4Q04 was pretty weak, 1Q05 may have been too, don't know
Your paragraph here seems to assume two incorrect things at least - 1. that 'the US' is our enemy in this matter [it is not, pine lobby mafiosos in control of backroom Washington machinery of power are], and 2. that you could turn the lumber into manufactured goods and then get them through the tariff wall as if they were made of plastic or something [they are not, so you cannot, all you do is up the cross-border cost on which is computed the pine lobby's tariff percentage] .... there's more missing in your post but i'm running out of typing time, either you'll decide you want to learn something about this and you'll go learn it, or you won't, it's up to you ... cheers |
