I would consider some emerging markets bond funds. First, do you have these indexes in Stockcharts or Bigcharts

JP Morgan’s Emerging Market Bond Index (JPM EMBI) and Morgan Stanley’s Emerging Market Equity Index (MSCI EMEI)

I know the Vanguard Index tracks the MSCI Emerging Markets Index

What I like about this is the low yield, because if you short you don't want to get stuck with a big dividend bill. Some of the emerging markets funds have pretty high yields.
