I have noticed it (declining tequila quality). I knew a guy who got a few oak casks and aged his own, it definitey enhances the flavor of even rotgut tequila.

To some degree, 100% pure agave tequilas are a commodity, especially now as the growth and harvesting processes become more uniform throughout the growing region. I filled my own "strategic tequila reserve" a few years ago, so I haven't bought any tequila, premium or otherwise for awhile for home use. But I agree based on what I've tasted in bars, quality is heading south.

UC Davis is a pretty good school, certainly for a public institution, it's in the top 15-20% nationally, IMO....and the veterinary program is right at the top, certainly among the best in the world.
