The gushing truth
Contrary to Bush, enviros and Thomas Friedman, America will never be energy independent. The sooner we accept this, the sooner we'll be able to change our gas-guzzling ways.

Excerpt: "That vision will not happen. America will never -- repeat, never -- be energy independent. America is such a major energy user and the energy market is so complex that we can never be independent. America simply sucks up too much oil (25 percent of world production), too much natural gas, and too much coal to ever cut itself off from the global market."

Note: The rest of the article isn't that great, doesn't mention peak oil until like the 15th paragraph, and claims that biofuels can offset fossil fuel depletion. Also, too much misdirected hostility towards Bush for my liking. Blaming oil depletion on Bush is just a way of being lazy.
