Tom,
BHP is both - an Uranium and a coal miner (and more)

on Uranium: BHP would fit but IMHO it'S too big and too diversified to be a good candidate for MATERIAL apprectiation. When I say material I mean a possiblity for a 10-bagger in a meaningful timeframe (2-3 years).. I'm looking at something like Strathmore (STM.V), but top criteria is valuation, chance to get cashflow soon (reopen mines). To me it looks like "brownfield stories" could thrive in the current environment.. something like PDN.AX (Paladin Resources) before it was discovered. It was the onslaught of "secondary material" from weapon programs that broke the back of the higher cost Uranium miners. Well, their drying up now should allow many of these mines to reopen.. just the owner might have changed in the meantime..

on Coal: no idea yet, my problem right now is I don't know how to value coal producers.. I didn't run comps so far.. One small firm I know of is "Sennen" (SN.V) with good Aussie properties. just wanted to provide some thought provoking ideas
