I know almost nothing about the Philippines, and am not interested in living like a king (or queen). I am not a very materialistic person, once my basic needs are met. I do believe it is hot and humid there, and a lot of people are really poor. I tend to like places where almost everyone is middle class, because I don't like social chaos. Americans retiring to Mexico seem to be very well off financially--they can afford maids, etc.) but again, it makes me really sad to see people living in poverty and I'm really sensitive about stuff like that. I would be sad all the time. And Mexico is a place with a lot of police corruption. I like having full civil rights.

My husband is from Northern Ireland, and wants to return there. If that happens, we will possibly maintain some presence in America, as well, since it is unclear if our daughter would join us, and I like having a close relationship with her.
