Don't you think "bald face lie" is just a tad excessive?
Since I don't really know what bald face means, you may have a point.
In the spirit of cooperation, I'll rename it, "The same lie told over and over."
Now go easy on me I'm not the expert wordsmith you are. I just try to keep it honest when somebody like you who knows nothing about the subject posts erroneous info about SOF or SF OPS.
Do you realize one of the links you posted yesterday confirmed my info and refuted yours? I think it was the Israeli library link. You may want to read what you posted.
The Munich incident took place just a couple of months after the Israeli rescue of the victims of the Sabena hijack... Those of us outside that arcane little world don't give a damn if the Israelis pulled off Sabena using a recon team or the Tel Aviv High girls' field hockey team instead of a specialized hostage rescue team. The Israelis demonstrated to our satisfaction that they had the capacity. Your arguing organizational structure is not an effective rebuttal, it's a red herring.
Don't you just love google. Now you don't need to know or experience anything to be an expert.
A helluva lot of Belgium airliners have been terrorist targets over the years. I forgot about that minor 72 incident until you mentioned it specifically again and then (to be honest) I needed a memory assist.
It was a very minor incident not involving US troops or American civilians and there were no friendly (Israeli) casualties. It was so minor, it has never even been discussed in SF training. I had to call an old teammate who was in that AO to get my memory refreshed. Don't chastise me for that. I am certain you were not there.
BTW, my team and another trained at Schaffen Belgium for a month in 1970. We worked scenarios all the way from Schaffen to downtown Brussels with the best troops the Belgians had at the time. They were magnificent. One Belgian Sergeant had an American Silver Star from Korea. He drank a glass of red wine for breakfast every day and no officer ever objected. In our off-time we made parachute jumps with the Belgians till dark then drank beer at the little pub just off the base near the blimp hangers. Worked our butts off that month and made 40 jumps for fun and that Sergeant made all 40 with us.
The world military parachute championships were about to happen at that little base. We got pulled and could not compete. Dontcha love these little stories? I luv the old memories.
At the end of that OP, the other Captain and I ran a special OP to Amsterdam via Eindhoven. I'll tell you about that one in person. Funny how SF always gets there ahead of the bad guys. And they still do.
Repeal posse comitus, bring SF home, and our borders will be secure. Just a little advertising there. Hope you don't mind.
For perspective, I'll tell you two terrorists were killed in the first LOD attack you mentioned and no friendlies. You think that is significant. 50 Americans are murdered everyday. Name all those killed on any day in 1972 or name all those killed last Sunday. Can't do it?..ok. Name any two Americans killed or tell us how many were killed on the day of the Sabena hijacking. PS. Google ain't as good as you think. Hell I wonder if you were born in 72.
That rescue was done by one squad of Israeli Paratroopers. Good work, well done, but not a well trained hostage rescue team. It certainly doesn't mean they were the best team for the job in Munich.
Why do you even think that attack was significant? The Israelis got there asses handed to them a week later when they lost dozens to a terrorist attack at the same airport.
That is the LOD attack the operators studied. Unlike the first, it commanded world-wide attention.(ever been there? I hear it has changed so much I'd never recognize it.) This second attack, I do recall in detail. A Japanese terrorist team killed dozens of Israelis at the LOD airport. In your attack the Israelis killed two terrorists at LOD airport.
Either the squad of paratroopers or the wonderful Israeli counter-terror and hostage rescue unit that was not formed until 2 years later really fuxxed that OP up. You don't suppose the Germans knew that do you?
Using your guidelines the Germans should have hired a Japanese terrorist team to manage the Munich Arab terrorist problem.
That second attack was the key reason Olympic security was beefed up so high for the following two months.
No, it may not have been the best course of action, all things considered.
You are getting closer to forgiveness.
LOL
Now quit using google to spread phony info you have no personal knowledge of and cannot substantiate, and quit being reluctant to listen to folks who know from personal experience. Your google gained knowledge is incomplet and often inaccrate.
You must see that by now. LOL |
