You call that a "mistake"? You must be nuts. It was the corporate media that made it look that way.

Talking about mistakes, here is a whopper -- invading Iraq when it posed no threat to us whatsoever (cost so far : 1600 US soldiers' lives, ten thousand or more injured, 300 Billion dollars... with more to to come).

Maybe it was not a mistake. It was probably a big, bald-faced lie that got us into that mess.
