With free will comes great responsibility. See how very often most people forget one, or the other, or both. All are various and sundry tyrants.
>>In the 4000 years of recorded history, it is indeed strange that not one, not one incidence of mutation to another life form has ocurred. A monkey is still a monkey, a whale is still a whale, and a human is still a human. Tell that to John Galt. God is still the same yesterday, today and forever. I personally could not live without him. James<<
You don't know what the extraterrestrials have been cooking up in their labs during those 4000 years. How could you?
Is God an "alien," a committee of aliens, a warring faction of aliens, or a single, sentient, omnipotent being - the creator of the universe? Are we discussing Yhwh?
Place your bets and spin- or simply ride - the wheel.
My bet is that there is more to the story than what the council of Nicea decided to feed us, and more to the story than those who would rely only upon that single canon for the ultimate source of all truth.
My hunch is that they sold us out when they wrote the Torah, and they sold us out again at Nicea... this doesn't mean that I never utter Yhwh's name.
HP Lovecraft's "Mountains of Madness" has as good a chance of being true as do the 10 commandments.
It seems to me that those who rigidly interpret the council-of-nicea-defined "christian" canon and further accept only that as gospel are a bit self-important as individuals.
I've found very good people in every faith... such good people that I find it hard to believe that council-of-nicea-christians or torah-based jews themselves have a monopoly on either "salvation" or "truth."
Perhaps since the church structure is so corrupted and has been so for so many ages, the satanists (for instance) ala Anton LeVay are actually some of the most moral of humans these days.
So now the ball is in your court. Convince us that Yhwh isn't in point of fact incompetent or worse yet,- outright evil. I will say this... I believe Yhwh - "God" if you will - to be at the very least a player among "the gods" and I think that humans should respect and fear this Being, whether he is a demi-urge or the Be All, End All. On the other hand, I'm not entirely convinced I agree with "His" methods. I will say that despite all of my misgivings about Yhwh, I think "He" actually likes me.
I don't believe in the virgin birth or resurrection of the one they call "Jesus," and all of this thinking of mine has led me to toy with the idea that indeed, to rebel against the church as we've known it to exist for practically forever on this planet is actually, ultimately pleasing to the one they call "Yhwh," assuming Yhwh is indeed, "good."
The Lord of Truth and Light would certainly frown upon our justice system as we have it today. The one they call Christ would never have put anyone in jail, period. That is why I say we've been lied to at some point.
In closing, all religions seem to say, "you get what you deserve." On the other hand, even most all of those professing to believe this have a hard time in _not_ trying to control other people. With the ultimate justice of the Lord a given, why all of the attempts at social control on the part of the "do-gooders" - the various arms of church and state? At the very least I sleep soundly with the knowledge that there is justice, only not here and now - not here on this earth, not here in the corporate socialist state, with theocratic minions - pretenders to the throne of light - of some dark force always looking to institute that very social control which is an ultimate affront to the Lord of Lord and Lady of Ladies. Those who seek social control are the ultimate blasphemers and pretenders to the throne of the Lord.
Mind you, I'm not accusing you personally of this unforgiveable sin of social control, but once I get started on these kinds of posts the words simply flow forth, for better or for worse.
To all of you, please consider these humble words, and trust in the ultimate judgement of the Lord, whoever "He" turns out to be in "the end," which - if I were to place another bet - is very near. I'll go with the end of the Mayan calendar heralded by the chaos of Quetzalcoatl in... what year was that again... 2012?
