After the war many did immigrate here, quite a few following a brief stay in the US, which gets listed as their 'country of origin' for that reason ... it was before the war, in the thirties, when immigration policy discouraged those from central and eastern Europe and the Baltic countries ... there was a preference for immigration from british countries, it was slowly relaxed during the thirties i think, meantime many from these other countries came via the UK, and they included jews .... note that jews were not discriminated against due to their religion, rather it was their countries of origin, which included Germany
