I pretty much agree with you, and disagree somewhat with the article. You are right about the polarization, and IMHO it's coming from the RR. I'm looking forward to when it backfires.


The backfire will come when the secularists get tired of all the emphasize on religiosity. I mean think about it......evangelicals are estimated to be 35 million people in this country. For 13% of the population, they are being given too much consideration IMO.

What you can't do is separate the religion from the man. When you elect a John Kennedy you've got to figure some of the decisions are going to be based on the values of his Catholic upbringing. On the other hand I had no idea how radical Bush was going to be --- based on his religion.

My experience of presidents until Bush is that religion was in the background and a private matter. Again, in my experience, Bush is the first president to bring it front and center.
