This GM thing has a real stink about it. Kerkorian is not going to lose on his investment. Has the deal already been made that unloads the medical & pension liabilities onto the government? When coupled with the Fed's plan to inflate away all debts, that would leave the manufacturing operation very profitable, even with lower sales volume.

In fact, the saying "What's good for GM is good for America" may come back in vogue. It's not too far fetched to imagine a Democratic ticket coming to power in three years that provides cover for inflating away debt and unloading all pension & medical plans onto the government. Corporations would then have more $ to dole out as low-taxed dividends.

2009: President Hillary, socialized medicine, social security on steroids, and GM quarterly dividends of $4/share.
