the number of rejections is not really a statement to the quality of the school though. If I were to judge the effectiveness of some engineering school I would look at the number of obvious inventions/companies etc that originated from said school. That of course is a tough measure of quality but much more relevant than how book-smart some asian university can make a kid. Lets put it this way- when US universities start using Chinese engineering texts in the classroom, we know we have fallen in academia. Right now it is the other way around.
