Salazar, in a KKTV interview Tuesday:
From my point of view, they are the Antichrist of the world.
Salazar backed off slightly on that statement today, saying he meant "un-Christian", which Dobson clearly is. But the sentiment remains, as those the willingness for Salazar to take on the powerful, influential Dobson.

If you're a constituent, give his office a ring since you know the Dobsonites are flooding the phone lines as we speak.

This is also making amends for some of his early flirtations with Bush and his ilk.
Salazar was booed by many at Colorado's March 5 Democratic State Central Committee meeting for a series of aisle-crossing votes that set the tone for his first months in office. He endorsed Bush's nominations of Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, along with legislation making it tougher for people to use bankruptcy to get out of debt.

Liberals disappointed by other aspects of the senator's voting record laud his stance against the Christian right.

"It's about time that someone has called Focus on the Family. ... This is the most political nonpolitical organization in the world's history. And Dr. Dobson apparently has moved on from SpongeBob to Sen. Salazar," said Bill Vandenberg of the Colorado Progressive Coalition.

Many political insiders familiar with Salazar's reputation for political caution expressed surprise at his war of words with Dobson.
The calls are 3-2 in favor of the wingers, but those efforts are hilariously scripted. It'd be far too much to expect them to find their own words on the issue.

But here's the thing -- our elected officials need to know we have their backs when they take a courageous stance. The other side has been working the refs for so long, that our side has become timid and fearful.

But that was then, and this is now. We have our own growing noise machine, and we need to wield it to protect those who would maliciously attack our party. Dobson wants to call Salazar -- a devout Catholic who attended seminary school -- un-Christian? Let him. But when Salazar strikes back, and strikes back hard, we'll be there to back him up.
