| I don't think we had any choice but to do what we did, originally. I remember your position on this but I can't get exercised over laws that force big, interstate companies, like hotel chains, to rent rooms to blacks, which is what absolutely needed to happen. Big corporations are like public conveyances. When you start messing around with the freedom of association of small businesses or individuals, I'm more sympathetic to your pov. And, of course, the problem with this has been, like so much that we do, it has 1) been taken too far and 2) outlived its usefulness, sort of like unions, but you can't get rid of it. |
