I am amply familiar with the challenges facing the Vietnamese

Are you REALLY, or are you just espousing your normal leftist hand-wringing BS??

You told us the Vietnamese people were "free" after the US pulled out of the south.

Yet the economic facts show that neighboring countries once very similiar in economic performance to Vietnam in 1950 were able to outpace the economic performance of their totalitarian neighbor..

And those people in Thailand and Cambodia have had FAR MORE FREEDOMS (even having to deal with Pol Pot and other Chinese/Vietnamese meddling and aggression) than have the Vietnamese people.

Vietnam has lost 25-30 years of economic progress. And even NOW their own economic specialist is lamblasting the lack of politico-economic change in the country. A lack of change that CONTINUES to make Vietnam a high-risk investment, as well as continuing to repress the freedoms of the Vietnamese people.

Bottom line. There is no such thing as inalienable rights in Vietnam (or China). And so long as people have to live in fear of losing everything they own merely because they have p*ssed off the wrong people, they have no freedom.

I doubt it would be worthwhile for the US to go back and kill another 5 million Vietnamese as our way of deciding their future for them.

Sounds to me like you're in favor of North Korea launching an all-out war of "reunification" against the South.

Because, after all, THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT NORTH VIETNAM DID AGAINST THE SOUTH. And THAT's the reason millions of North Vietnamese died conquering their southern "brethen" so they could impose a FOREIGN form of political totalitarianism upon them.

Yeah.. you seem REAL familiar with Vietnam... Probably learned everything you know from Jane Fonda.
