Let's, for the sake of analysis, flip that around and ask what's the Dem up side for offering an alternative? I don't see one. Those young people who want their own savings plan at the expense of cuts in fixed benefits are going to vote Republican anyway. And all the other potential options involve cuts in benefits or increases in taxes, which won't sit well. No, I don't see the upside. Do you?
