Security/Tracking Issue w Yahoo Super Cookies

A cut & paste from another board ... note that this procedure must be done with every computer and with each browser used on each computer ... if you use both FF and IE on same computer then procedure must be followed for both browsers ....
multiple users on same computer ... sameo sameo, each must do.

I ran across a post last night at Value Forum describing how Yahoo puts a super cookie on your hard drive called a "Web Beacon" when you sign up for Yahoo. The cookie allows Yahoo to track you all over the Web, and Yahoo provides this information to third parties. Apparently the cookie can't be removed with spy ware tools such as Ad-Aware since we all unknowingly gave explicit consent to Yahoo to do this when we signed up.

There is a way to opt out at Yahoo, and my wife and I have done so on all of our PC's. Below is a link to the article which contains instructions on how to do this.
