If there are beneficial uses of pot, they should be developed medically and not on the street. I don't think throwing people in jail for smoking pot is a good use of our jail space, but I have no problem throwing people in jail for misbehaviors done under the influence of it, any more than I do for the same misbehaviors under influence of alcohol, or done just out of plain cussedness.

I'm not about to defend illicit use of a substance that has proven over and over again that it destroys initiative and encourages sloth.
